We The People

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

Have you read the Constitution of the United States of America?  I suggest if you are an American, you have a duty to know the founding law of the land and then look at how far we have strayed from it.  The Constitution says the federal government is to provide protection from all enemies both foreign and domestic in the form of the military, to create a common currency in the form of the U.S. Mints, to provide a postal service, and to protect the general welfare of the people of the states in the union that makes up America.

The Constitution says the federal government is there to serve the people and the states, not dictate to the states.  It says that Congress can collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises “to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States.”  Shall be uniform, think about that.  All obligations will be equal across the board.  Everyone will be treated the same.  Everyone carries an equal duty in paying the bills of America.

No where does it say that the wealthier have a greater responsibility to pay the debt.  No where does it say that certain parties are exempted from responsibility.  It says ALL shall be uniform throughout the United States.  Yet we have congressional representatives exempting themselves from laws and requirements.  We have congress continually enacting tax brackets that punish the wealthy for working hard to earn more or punishing their ancestors for being successful while giving a free ride to others.  We have a congress that maintains a welfare system that does not give a hand up, but creates a way of life so that those living on handouts have no desire to bring themselves out of poverty and therefore out of self interest only votes for representatives that will ensure their way of life.

Whatever happened to “of the people, by the people, and for the people”?
