Iowa State Fair Photo Salon 2015

Well the wait to know which photos were chosen to be displayed at the Iowa State Fair this year is over.  Yesterday afternoon they had the reception to announce the winners in all the different categories.  On top of the 200 total ribbon winners, another 600 photos were chosen to be displayed.

There were 1070 people entered and a total of 3330 photographs.

A photographer had a 1 in 4 chance of having a photograph displayed.

There was a 1 in 17 chance of getting a ribbon.

Out of the 1070 photographers that entered:

  • 4 got all four photographs displayed
  • 69 had three photographs displayed
  • 131 had two photographs displayed
  • 313 had one photograph displayed
  • 553 didn’t get any displayed

Of the four photographs I sent in to be judged, the silhouette of the cement reclamation plant was chosen to be shown, but won no award in the Silhouette category.

The black and white photo of the lone woman on the leather sofa at the state house received an honorable mention in the B/W People category.

The Stereographic Projection Image of the street intersection was the blue ribbon winner in the Anything Goes category.

Congratulations! I really like the Street Intersection Photo. I haven’t seen any of the results beside yours. Are they posted online?

    Thanks – Allen Kurth

    • Thanks Allen, I don’t know of any place that is posting the photos. Used to be a Flickr group, but no one has posted there for two years. If any place posts, it will more than likely be after the state fair is over.
