Today a talk show host spoke of the democratic party hiring an illegal alien to work for them. Doing this violates United States laws and he brought this up before others piped in. One person reiterated several times “What would Jesus do?” and “Who would Jesus deport?”
First of all, when people put out “what would Jesus do?” I think it is pretty arrogant of them to claim to know Jesus so well that they think they can speak for Him. Second of all, I think it pretty pretentious too.
I finally had enough of his “what would Jesus do about the illegal immigrants” and answered him back “I suggest you read Romans 13:1-7 which states that we are to obey the laws of those in power for there is now power except as ordained by God.”
Then, the person responded to me with a quote out of Ezekiel that said to accept foreigners into your land as if they were your own for you were once a foreigner in Egypt.
I asked if he wanted to know what Jesus would do he would have to reply out of the New Testament, not of the old because the Old Testament is the law of God that condemns all of mankind to death, but the New Testament is the word of Jesus who gives us everlasting life over death.
Had he asked what should a Christian do, the answer would be to follow the New Testament and follow Jesus’s teachings; that includes His teachings that you don’t agree with.
