Thought for Today

Ever since the federal government has gotten involved in the education of our nation’s young, the competitive abilities of those students have been in a constant freefall.  Whereas America used to be first in the world, since the government started meddling in it we have fallen to #18.  Here is the latest breakdown:

  1. South Korea
  2. Japan
  3. United Kingdom
  4. Singapore
  5. Russia
  6. Finland
  7. Canada
  8. Netherlands
  9. Ireland
  10. Israel
  11. China
  12. New Zealand
  13. Norway
  14. Belgium
  15. Germany
  16. Denmark
  17. Estonia
  18. United States
  19. France
  20. Portugal

As far as states are concerned, before the fed’s stared poking around where they don’t belong, Iowa ranked #1 in America and the Iowa Basic Skills Test was the standard for all states to measure their own programs.  Now, the ranking of states (according to USA Today and Education Week) is:

  1.  Massachusetts
  2. New Jersey
  3. Maryland
  4. Vermont
  5. New Hampshire
  6. Connecticut
  7. Wyoming
  8. Pennsylvania
  9. New York
  10. Minnesota
  11. Wisconsin
  12. Virginia
  13. Rhode Island
  14. Maine
  15. North Dakota
  16. Delaware
  17. Illinois
  18. Nebraska
  19. Iowa
  20. Alaska

Does this mean that other states have gotten that much better, or more likely, the federal government has dummied down the education system?

Since the feds started messing with the education system in 1965 under President Lyndon Johnson, there have been too many new regulations to even count yet we continue to fall.

So, today’s thought is:

When a provider has proven to be inept, it is time to find a new provider. ~ ME
