Thought for Today (11/24/2016)

Thanksgiving, a uniquely American holiday where people get together with family, eat way too much, and watch American football on the television.  But is this what the holiday was meant to be?

In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln set the holiday to be the last Thursday in November to be a national holiday to give “Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.”  What?  It’s not a holiday to remember the pilgrims?  It’s not a holiday to watch football?  It was set up to be a national holiday to give thanks to God???

How can that be?  The liberals in government tell us time and time again that the Constitution was written to build a wall of separation between us and religion and here is a national holiday to praise God!

This completely disproves what some would want you to believe.  America was built as a God fearing country and I submit a vast majority of our current woes are due to those who want to remove God from our lives.

That’s enough; I’ll say no more on the subject for now because this alone is enough to contemplate while you go through the day.

I wish you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and hope you get to spend it with the ones you love.  I also hope that you will remember our service members who cannot spend the day with their families. ~ ME
